About Willow Tree Farm
Welcome to willow tree farm
Willow tree family farm is a small charitable incorporated organisation, registered in England registered charity 1122101
we are run by a dedicated team of volunteers some of our trustees have been running the charity for over 10 years.
The Farm is a community-managed project that aims to improve the quality of life for local people and its service-users.
The farm does this by working with members of the local community and others, to provide a range of innovative and exciting, educational, social, environmental, economic and recreational activities. The farm is particularly interested in combating social exclusion and addressing issues caused by multiple deprivation by providing a safe and supportive environment in which people can flourish and contribute positively to their community.
The 5 Ways to Wellbeing were developed by the New Economic Foundation as a way of improving our mood and how we feel about ourselves. Visiting and volunteering on the farm can enable you to achieve all of these and help you on the way to feeling good about yourself and the world.
Connect... feeling close to and valued by people and your wider community is vital to feeling happy. When you volunteer at the farm you become a valued member of our team and also have the chance to meet new people and make new friends. You could meet up at the farm with a friend or reach out to someone you know who might be lonely. Have a stroll around the farm and see the seasons change and see the animals.
Be Active... regular physical activity can lower rates of anxiety and depression. Volunteering outside at the farm whether it is looking after the animals, gardening or maintenance gets you outside in the fresh air, sunshine and nature.
Take Notice... becoming aware of your surroundings and being present in the moment enhances your wellbeing. You can do this at anytime, but the farm can be a beautiful place to practice being present.
Keep learning... continued learning through life enhances self-esteem and boosts self confidence. There is lots of opportunity for learning at the farm, either informally through carrying out tasks, or on one of our courses or our fun holiday activities.
Giving... participating in community projects and giving your time can really improve your sense of wellbeing. By volunteering at the farm, you are taking an active role in your community and being part of something meaningful.
